Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale

Perinatal Depression Screening Tool

If you are pregnant or recently gave birth, it's important to take care of your mental health. Depression can affect people during pregnancy and after they give birth. This screening tool can help you identify symptoms of postpartum depression and determine how soon you should talk to your healthcare provider. It's important to remember that while this tool can provide some insights, it's not a substitute for professional medical advice.

If you are having suicidal thoughts or are thinking of hurting yourself or your baby, seek help immediately. Contact your healthcare provider, call or text to 988 for assistance, contact a mobile crisis unit in your area, or go to the closest hospital emergency room.

If you have been feeling sad, hopeless, or irritable for two weeks or more, or if you have other concerns about your well-being, contact your healthcare provider as soon as possible.

Depression is treatable. The earlier it is diagnosed, the sooner you can get on the path to mental wellness. You and your baby deserve to be well!
