Amy Mezulis, PhD, presenter
Amy Mezulis, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in teen depression. She is Professor Emeritus at Seattle Pacific University, where she spent 20 years as core faculty and chaired the Clinical Psychology PhD program and continues. Dr. Mezulis’ research on teen depression has been funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, the National Association of Research in Schizophrenia and Depression, and the American Psychological Association. Her most recent book is titled, “Reversing the Spiral of Depression for Teens: Simple Actions to Improve Mood, Boost Motivation, and Build the Life You Want.”
Dr. Mezulis is also the Co-founder and former Chief Clinical Officer at Joon Care, a telehealth company that provides online therapy for teens and young adults.
Dr.Mezulis received her BA from Harvard and her PhD from University of Wisconsin – Madison. She currently maintains a private practice, serves on the board of Joon Care, and volunteers as a Disaster Mental Health specialist with the Red Cross and PsyCorps. Dr. Mezulis lives in the greater Seattle area and is the parent of two young adults (22 and 19). She enjoys travel, yoga, and boating.
Susan Weinstein, JD, Moderator
Susan Weinstein, JD, Co-Executive Director, has been primarily responsible for programs and finances at Families for Depression Awareness since 2012. Susan was diagnosed with depression in her teens and has drawn from her personal experiences to inform FFDA’s curriculum. She has worked in nonprofits and local government throughout her career, generally in a non-legal capacity. She holds several volunteer positions, including serving on the Executive Committee and as Governance Committee Chair of the Massachusetts Coalition for Suicide Prevention and holding a variety of elected and appointed seats in her town government since 1992. A native of South Florida, Susan is a graduate of Wellesley College and the Boston University School of Law.
