What Works for Teens?
Depression in teens is an urgent health problem. By the end of their teenage years, 20% of teens will have suffered from depression. Depression often leads to alcohol and drug abuse and worse: suicide. Nearly 15% percent of teens have made a suicide plan and 9% have made a suicide attempt. Clearly, teens urgently need help.
Kitty Dukakis and Peggy Vettese, Co-Chairs of the Families for Depression Awareness Advisory Board, brought together a diverse group of speakers to talk about these issues at a meeting in September.
