It is truly astounding how much work goes into putting together an event! Families for Depression Awareness will kick off May 2012's Mental Health Awareness month by bringing people together to raise awareness of depressive disorders, reduce stigma, and honor those that have been lost to suicide.

 I was always an admirer of Ashley Judd’s humanitarian work and found it inspirational; my husband has always been a huge fan of her film career. So when the Ford Hall Forum at Suffolk University announced she would be a speaker on April 15th, how could we pass up the opportunity to see and hear her speak.

In a new study published in the Journal of Adolescent Health online, researchers tracked 51 severely obese teens grades 7-12 to see if they could find a link between depression and obesity.

Stressed? Not anymore. On April 26, 2011, we presented our “Coping with Stress and Depression” webinar to viewers from all across the country. Jon Mattleman and Families for Depression Awareness president, Julie Totten, talked about stress, anxiety, depressive disorders and ways to cope with each. Over 300 people registered for the event, and 85% of survey respondents rated the webinar as “good” or “excellent.”
